From Palermo to Rome, keeping it in the Rocco Fort From Palermo to Rome, keeping it in the Rocco Forte family. 🇮🇹

Some hotels you visit once. Others keep bringing you back.
This was my third stay at Hotel de Russie over the years, and it remains one of my absolute favorites in Rome.

Following an extensive multi-year renovation, this Roman icon is looking better than ever — beautifully refreshed while retaining its timeless elegance, character and intimate, boutique feel I’ve always loved.

The exceptional service, effortless style, unbeatable location, and of course, that gorgeous Secret Garden courtyard are just a few of the reasons I (and my clients) keep returning.

Some hotels are destinations in their own right. Villa Igiea, a historic villa with a Sicilian soul, is certainly one of them.

Perched above the Gulf of Palermo and only 10 minutes drive from the vibrant city of Palermo, this Rocco Forte 100-room grand dame is a perfect blend of Sicilian history, timeless elegance and contemporary luxury. After several days exploring Sicily, checking in here for two nights felt like a wonderful change of pace to relax and unwind in the incredible warm October weather. From the sweeping sea views and lush grounds to the old-world glamour style and warm hospitality, it’s easy to see why this timeless hotel is such a special address.

An absolutely memorable stay.

I love the colors of Palermo. Elegant and gritty, I love the colors of Palermo.

Elegant and gritty, full of character, and impossible not to love. From colorful street markets and grand palazzos to the stunning opera house Teatro Massimo, we sampled the delicious local delicacies and had plenty of laughs along the way.

Less than 48 hours in Noto — and we packed it in. Less than 48 hours in Noto — and we packed it in.

A stay in a gorgeous boutique hotel in an 18th century palazzo, visits to more hotels (Rocco Forte coming soon!), lots of wandering (and shopping) our way through Noto, eating, aperitivo-ing, a little White Lotus location stalking… and a road trip to Marzamemi because why how could we resist lunch by the sea?

Noto, you were very easy to love. Next stop → Cefalu

And they’re off… ✈️ It is an especially exciting And they’re off… ✈️

It is an especially exciting next week of departures, with clients heading out on six very different fall trips — and taking advantage of what is one of my favorite times of year to travel.

A girls’ weekend in Charleston. A first trip to the Dolomites, pairing Cortina with Aman Rosa Alpina in Alta Badia before heading to Florence. A glamorous run from Monaco to the legendary Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc and on to Rome. Another Dolomites adventure for a birthday week of hiking with Backroads. A fun-filled couples trip through Hvar, Dubrovnik and Montenegro. And two couples experiencing Paris for the first time through food, art and history.

Six trips, six completely different itineraries — from mountains and Mediterranean coastlines to great cities, with some pretty special hotels along the way.

Fall travel is definitely in full swing. 🍂✈️

It has been a busy month! Every August, like clock It has been a busy month! Every August, like clockwork, the requests start coming in. But this summer, it’s been kinda crazy.

Summer isn’t over yet, but everyone has fall travel on their mind. The last few weeks for me have been nonstop planning and booking for clients heading everywhere from Egypt and Africa to Morocco and out West. But overwhelmingly, Europe — and especially Italy — is at the very top of the list.

I’m seeing firsthand something the travel industry data is now confirming: fall isn’t really “shoulder season” anymore (it hasn’t been for a while tbh). September and October had always been the sweet spot — beautiful weather, fewer crowds, better availability and lower prices.

The first two are still largely true.

The last two? Not so much. At all, really.

Fall is absolutely one of the best times to be in Europe. It’s still warm without the intense summer heat and you can extend your summer wardrobe a little longer. The big family crowds have gone home and there’s a calmer, more grown-up feel that I love. The numbers tell the same story: European luxury travel bookings are shifting noticeably from summer into fall, and Virtuoso has reported significant increases in both fall bookings and spending.

Which explains what I’ve been seeing in my calls, texts and emails.

On repeat for my clients this Fall heading to Europe:

🇮🇹 Italy, Italy, Italy — the Dolomites, Como, Sicily, Sardinia, Amalfi Coast and all the cities in between.
🇫🇷 Paris, Normandy + the South of France
🇬🇧 London + the Cotswolds
🇩🇰 Scandinavia
🇬🇷 Greece
🇭🇷 Croatia

And I’m joining the band wagon, heading to Sicily on our own scouting trip — checking out new locations, properties and experiences firsthand. And then some Rome shopping of course.

The one thing I tell clients: don’t assume fall means shoulder-season pricing. The most popular hotels and room categories are sold out or selling out, and rates can be VERY high.

But there are always gems 💎 to find — a hotel that hasn’t hit everyone’s radar, a room that suddenly opens up, or a destination you hadn’t considered.

One of my favorite England recommendations is pair One of my favorite England recommendations is pairing London with a few nights in a great country house hotel. I’ve always had a soft spot for English country house hotels - from The Pig and Chewton Glen to Heckfield Place and Soho Farmhouse. Give me a grand manor, roaring fireplaces, sprawling gardens and a great cocktail bar, and I’m sold.

I was especially curious to finally experience Estelle Manor after sending several clients here to rave reviews since it opened in 2023. After London this spring, I finally spent two nights at hotel and members club to see if it lived up to the hype.

Just 90 minutes from London and 30 minutes from Oxford, Estelle Manor is the epitome of a super chic English country house. It’s stylish without being pretentious, social without feeling overly scene-y, and has one of the strongest f&b programs I’ve experienced at a country hotel. It feels straight out of Pride & Prejudice—until you add exceptional restaurants, a Roman bath-inspired spa, and one of the coolest crowds in England.

I stayed in the Manor House Suite with a fireplace and dining nook overlooking the pool and grounds. I’d happily recommend the Manor House for couples, especially on the first floor with its soaring ceilings and views across the estate. Families are generally better suited to the Garden or Stable accommodations.

One thing I loved? The no-photography policy in the private members’ spaces. It was refreshing to see people actually enjoying moments instead of documenting them.

The Roman-inspired spa is designed as an immersive thermal journey experience rather than a quick stop in the sauna. I do wish spa guests having treatments could access a traditional sauna or steam room though.

A few things to know:
• The Manor House welcomes guests 13 and older.
• It’s incredibly dog-friendly (you’ll meet as many stylish dogs as stylish Londoners).
• Service was warm, with WhatsApp communication throughout my stay making everything incredibly easy.

If you’re looking for a British countryside escape to pair with London, Estelle Manor is absolutely worth the detour.
