When I saw this Normandy chateau rental in the New York Times travel magazine three years ago, I immediately ripped out the ad and pegged it on my corkboard. It’s been hanging there ever since as a reminder to not forget it.  I can’t tell you which lures me more… the medieval exterior, the cool dorm room for kids (the full “Madeleine effect”) moats and bocce ball court on the property or proximity to Mont St. Michel and Omaha Beaches.

This fully restored 14th century Chateau has 6 bedrooms, fitting 14 people comfortably. Situated on the edge of the hamlet of Canchy and neighbor to a working dairy and cider farm, the chateau is only a 10-20 minute drive from Bayeux, the beaches, the American Cemetery and picturesque beach town of Deauville.

Renovated with all modern conveniences (yes there is wireless and satellite), it looks like a perfect rental for a few families (who wants to come next year?) with its gourmet kitchen, spacious and atmospheric living rooms, ping pong room, bocce ball court, and “boat on a moat”.

Hi,
Thank you for putting Chateau de Canchy on your blog. I would like to add that the Chateau comes with a housekeeper 4 hrs per day, 6 days a week and that anyone who is interested should contact me not on my internet site (as it is being rebuilt) but directly at: yarepep@googlemail.com – -or call at 0033607370472. They can also go onto Owners Direct website, France, Normandy and seek the property at FR 1508. But if it is just for a couple (and 2 kids) they might want to look at the Loft Guest House at Owners Direct FR 5080.
Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing from you and your friends in the future.
Kind regards
John Pepper
