While we are on the topic of the Viceroy Hotels (see Viceroy Anguilla blog in July), The Viceroy Snowmass ski-in/ski-out resort is set to open in December, just in time for ski season. It’s hard to think of skiing in September but it’s worth keeping this one on your list for a possible ski vacation this year with the little ones.
Here’s what I know: the interiors of the 236 rooms and residences are being done by the same designer, Kelly Wearstler, who designed the Viceroy Miami and Anguilla. There will be a 7,000 square foot spa, kids club, roof top pool, restaurants, ski valets etc. It’s the first mountain resort for the Kor Hotel Management brand but at least they are going about it right – its right at the base of the newly constructed (and some areas still in development) $1 billion Snowmass Base Village. Personally, I love the town of Aspen and on previous trips never thought to venture to Snowmass (other than required events when I was there for work). But with two youngsters, the promise of easy slopes, kids clubs and aspen a few minutes away, it’s definitely worthy of slipping into the “places I want to try” list. Official Opening Date is now 11/25 with opening rate of $150 a night for a studio with king sized bed and fireplace.
Inviato post note: You can also check out the new residences at The Little Nell in Snowmass. The Little Nell in Aspen is renovating their guest rooms and will reopen December 1, in time for ski season.
