There are more luxury hotel choices in London than There are more luxury hotel choices in London than ever before. Every year brings more “must-stay” extraordinary addresses to choose from. And yet, after returning to Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel this April, I was reminded why it still sits at the very top of my London hotel recommendations.

Tucked away on charming Albemarle Street in Mayfair, Brown’s has welcomed guests since 1837, making it London’s oldest luxury hotel. I first stayed at Brown’s years ago with my family and loved it, so returning for three nights in April after its recent renovation was something I had been looking forward to. The redesign is STUNNING (I’m obsessed with the wallpaper choices everywhere) — lighter, fresher, and more contemporary but timeless with the soul of the property still as it ever is.

From the thoughtful breakfast welcome waiting in my room when I arrived, to the personalized pillow and eye mask, the personal touches each night waiting for me (books, a sketch etc), my favorite Irene Forte skincare amenities, and yes...the endless supply of sweets that somehow kept appearing, every detail felt thoughtful, personal, and genuinely special.

Luxury is easy to create with beautiful design, and Brown’s has that covered. Making guests feel genuinely cared for is much harder. Every interaction felt warm, gracious, and sincere, and that’s what ultimately makes a hotel memorable. I’ve long admired the Rocco Forte brand, not only because the properties each have such a distinct sense of place, but because they remain family owned. Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of meeting members of the Forte family, and I’ve always felt that their personal involvement shows. There is an authenticity and attention to detail that carries through every stay.

Brown’s reminded me exactly why Hotel de Russie and Hotel de la Ville in Rome and Masseria Torre Maizza in Puglia remain among my favorites for me and my clients, and why I’m looking forward to finally experiencing Villa Igiea (a client fave) in Palermo this October. I can not wait for their next openings in Noto and Naples!

I’ll admit it—I thought I understood the Dolomites I’ll admit it—I thought I understood the Dolomites. I’ve booked clients to Cortina for skiing, Forestis for wellness, and assumed the region was simply a summer hiking or winter ski destination.

After spending a week there, I couldn’t have been more wrong.

What I discovered was an entire region of remarkable villages, each with its own personality. A luxury hotel scene evolving alongside generations of family-owned properties. A culture shaped as much by Austrian influence as Italian. Incredible food, genuine warmth, and a connection to nature and wellness that feels woven into everyday life.

Most of all, I realized the Dolomites isn’t one town - it’s a collection of places, each with its own story.

Five things I learned:

1. It’s about far more than hiking and skiing. Wellness, culture, gastronomy and luxury hospitality are just as much a part of the experience.
2. There’s so much beyond Cortina. Villages like San Cassiano, Alta Badia and the Bolzano region each offer their own character, exceptional hotels and unforgettable experiences.
3. The region’s most exceptional hotels have been family-owned for generations. Their pride in their heritage, traditions and hospitality is something you feel.
4. Wellness isn’t a trend. It’s simply woven into everyday life.
5. Nobody warned me how much fun everyone has. Long lunches, mountain huts, farm dinners, music, wine, grappa and an incredible sense of community were some of the biggest surprises.

I came to better understand the Dolomites for my clients. I left convinced it is one of Italy’s most compelling destinations in their own right.

Inside Aman Rosa Alpina. Aman Rosa Alpina, in the Inside Aman Rosa Alpina.

Aman Rosa Alpina, in the charming village of San Cassiano in the Dolomites, has been one of the most talked-about hotel transformations in Europe in the past year.

I was lucky to spend three nights here two weeks ago, staying in one of the junior suites just a month before the property’s first anniversary as an Aman this July.

For those who knew and loved the original Rosa Alpina, this is far more than a refresh. After a two-year transformation, the hotel has emerged with a quieter, more contemporary look that is unmistakably Aman—defined by space, serenity, wellness and understated luxury. Yet what impressed me most is that the Pizzinini family remains very much part of the story.

I had the opportunity to spend time with Hugo Pizzinini during my stay, and what struck me most was his pride in what has been created here. There was no sense of trying to recreate the past. The focus is firmly on the future. That philosophy is evident throughout the property. I stayed in the newer annex building, where just a handful of photographs quietly acknowledge Rosa Alpina’s history - a thoughtful nod to the past without dwelling on it.

Our TRUE schedule kept me moving during my stay, but every evening seemed to end late night at the piano bar where the long-time pianist has been entertaining guests for years. It became our nightly gathering place. Even after the kitchen had officially closed, the team somehow managed to produce what may have been the best club sandwich I’ve ever had, and quickly became a nightly ritual. To me, that’s luxury hospitality—not because they had to, but because they wanted to.

Spending time here, it’s unmistakably Aman—from the serene public spaces, scenic pool and spa to the private cinemas and elevated cuisine. But what stayed with me wasn’t the design - it was how beautifully they balanced honoring a remarkable legacy while confidently embracing the future.

The hotels I remember most aren’t always the newest or the grandest. They are those with a story and who evolve without losing who they are. Aman Rosa Alpina is one of those places.

During my scouting trip to Venice last week, I spe During my scouting trip to Venice last week, I spent several days touring the city’s newest luxury hotel openings. At the top of my list was Airelles Palladio Venezia, one of the most anticipated hotel debuts in Europe this year.

Located on Giudecca Island just across from St. Mark’s Square, the property opened in May following a five-year restoration of a former convent and refuge. It is also the first Italian property for Airelles, the celebrated French luxury hotel brand.

Set within 2.5 acres of lush gardens overlooking the lagoon, Airelles offers something increasingly rare in Venice: space, privacy and a true sense of escape, all just a few minutes by boat from the heart of the city.

The rooms and suites are stunning, the grounds are extraordinary, and the setting feels like a private sanctuary just minutes from the heart of Venice. But what impressed me most wasn’t any one thing.

It was the feeling.

From the moment I stepped off the boat, everything felt intentional—the music piping through the public spaces, the scent (still waiting on what it is!), the warm hospitality of every person I met, the gorgeous gardens and pools, the art, the food (leave me in the dessert room!) and the painstaking attention to detail throughout the property.

Airelles has created something rare: a destination in its own right, yet still connected to one of the world’s most iconic cities.

I’ve visited a lot of extraordinary hotels over the years. Few have made a first impression quite like this one.

ORIENT EXPRESS VENEZIA Inside one of Venice’s newe ORIENT EXPRESS VENEZIA
Inside one of Venice’s newest grand palazzo hotels

As part of my recent time in Venice exploring the city’s newest luxury hotel openings, I toured the newly opened Orient Express Venezia, which welcomed its first guests on April 1.

Set within the 15th-century Palazzo Donà Giovannelli, originally built as a noble Venetian residence in 1436, the 47-room hotel marks only the second Orient Express hotel in Europe, following Rome’s debut in 2025.

The palazzo was designed by the architect behind the Doge’s Palace, one of Venice’s most iconic landmarks.

The scale, grandeur and craftsmanship of the public spaces and most notably the suites I saw is extraordinary. Towering frescoed ceilings, grand proportions and dramatic historic details make them some of the most impressive accommodations I’ve seen anywhere. The kind of rooms where you half expect royalty to walk through the door.

I also loved the courtyard garden—a rarity in Venice—tucked behind antique gates and hidden from the bustle of Strada Nova. Guests can arrive at the hotel through here or make a grand entrance by private boat through the palace’s water gate on the canal.

An exciting new addition to Venice growing luxury hotel scene!

Come take a peek inside The Venice Venice, one of Come take a peek inside The Venice Venice, one of Venice’s most intriguing newer hotels.

I recently spent a few days in Venice exploring some of the city’s newest and most anticipated hotel openings. While there, I chose to stay at The Venice Venice Hotel. a hotel I had been curious about for quite some time.

Housed inside a 13th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal and created by the Venetian founders of Golden Goose, the hotel is a fascinating juxtaposition of old and new. Original frescoes, centuries-old wooden ceilings and historic architectural details sit alongside contemporary art, minimalist interiors and pieces by local designers.
After a six-year restoration, the vision wasn’t to recreate the past, but to create something unexpected while honoring
it.

Part hotel, part gallery, part concept store, part gathering place, Venice Venice feels deeply connected to the city around it. My Grand Canal suite was flooded with light at sunset, Francys restaurant buzzed each evening along the water, and while being just steps from the Rialto Bridge and 10 minutes from San Marco, the property somehow feels private and hidden away.

What I loved most was the contrast. Historic Venice on the outside, creative and contemporary Venice on the inside.

A hotel full of character, personality and a strong sense of place, The Venice Venice is an instant favorite in Venice.

Stay tuned as I share a few more exciting new hotel openings in Venice and the Dolomite in the coming days. #thevenicevenicehotel #veniceitaly #luxuryhotels #venicehotels #hoteldesign
