The last time I visited Edinburgh, it was 30 years ago. While some things are unchanged (the weather, Edinburgh castle, the whiskey pubs and the wonderful hospitality of everyone we met), the city is also bursting with a new vitality: an amazing culinary scene, new hotels (we visited two wonderful recently opened properties: Gleneagles Townhouse and Virgin Hotel) which will post and review on shortly in addition to our stay at the consistently excellent Rocco Forte The Balmoral, and new fashion designers. The 4 hr direct train from London to Edinburgh could not be easier. So happy we returned, thank you for the warm hospitality, everyone! Next up: the Highlands! Highlights on our brief stay: 🛎️ Stay: The Balmoral. Superb. Site visits: Gleneagles Townhouse, Virgin Hotel Edinburgh. Both amazing new entrants on the luxury hotel scene. 🍽️ Eats:
Devil’s Advocate, an atmospheric modern gastro-pub in one of narrow closes in Old Town
Cafe Royal: a belle Epoque brasserie, perfect for fish and chips

I fell in love with London 🇬🇧all over again. An epic four nights in London after having been away for four years - feels like an eternity. No better re-entry than with a stay at The Connaught, many a client favorite and now mine. A packed and well-planned itinerary, if I may say so, with daughter and stepmother in tow, in our brief time. Can’t wait to come back! Next stop: Edinburgh! Highlights: 🛎️ Stay: The Connaught (perfection!) 🎭Theater: Shirley Valentine (phenomenal) at Duke of Yorks Theatre 🫖Afternoon Tea: Claridges (exquisite) 🖼️Museums: After-impressionist exhibit at National Art Gallery (just opened) and the Queen and Her Corgis exhibit at The Wallace Collection 🍸🍺Drink: Connaught Bar (the Martini Trolley a must once) on repeat and The Marquis for requisite pub stop (great vinyl collection) 💼Shopping: Selfridges, Liberty of London, and plenty of stops in Mayfair, Covent Garden and Chelsea 🍴Dinner: Jacuzzi, Ivy Asia, Daphnes
Breakfast: Chiltern Firehouse, Connaught
Lunch: The Fuji Grill at Beaverbrook Townhouse, Oysters and Fish and Chips at Scott’s

Rainy days like today in the Bahamas give me a chance to further explore the beautiful places that guests congregate at @rosewoodbahamar…and today they are packed! With all my clients Spring trips underway or about to be, I am enjoying some down time to unwind a bit before heading to the UK. Rosewood is a luxurious boutique 237-room hotel at the Baha Mar - an oasis really from the restaurants, clubs and bars encircling the casino floor (which I am happy to partake in at night). From the cozy and stylish Manor Bar with excellent cocktails to the Library and Cafe Boulud for breakfast, I am quite content. Miami vibes! Enjoying a long weekend in Miami for some sun and sand, visiting our favorite haunts and discovering new ones. So many different hoods to explore! Checked In: A happily-discovered boutique beach-front find and all-suite hotel in the posh enclave of South of Fifth (SoFi). A hidden gem away from the fray of mid South beach a few blocks north, the historic 1935 Savoy Hotel and Beach Club feels exactly like the low-key haven we were looking for this weekend: 2 acres of gardens, pools and just steps from jogging beach paths and beach (the hotel has its own beach club). Perennial fave eateries Call Me Gaby, Prime 112 and Forte dei Marmei and countless more are just around the corner as well as my new fave for breakfast, Pura Vida. The 31 spacious suites have all been renovated - we recommend ocean front facing! Our pool facing suites had double terraces overlooking gardens and pools. Well, that was a superlative stay - of 10 nights in paradise. Everything at Patina Fari Islands in the Maldives, which has only been open since May 2021, was exceptional - from our over-the-water 2 br villa (beyond!) to the amazing cuisine (every night a different restaurant), to the multitude of activities (diving, snorkeling tennis and mixology) and the stunning turquoise waters. And a surprise reunion with friends. But most of all the stellar hospitality of all the staff - from Roberto and Giovanni at the helm, to the talented creative chefs, our ‘essentialist’ Apiko and everyone in between who just went above and beyond - we are so grateful.
