Even though there for a nanosecond, we loved our brief stay at this chic new boutique hotel in Atlanta this week. The 217-room Kimpton The Sylvan has only been open since February, but it’s already become a favorite in the popular Buckhead neighborhood. Formerly an apartment building, the Sylvan has been reimagined as a stylish hotel where mid century modern design meets Southern hospitality. We loved the fun ambience (living room lobby pictured here) and dinner at supper club-style restaurant Bettys. But most of all the warm and friendly staff! Add this to your list next time you visit Atlanta!

Eva Pacheco, a local crochet teacher in the town of Alhaurin de la Torre in #Malaga, #Spain, used her and her students' skills to make colorful sunshades for the town.
Southern Spain is accustomed to extreme heat and has historically used plastic awnings to shade walkways. The City Council's Department of the Environment recently implemented a plastic-free order. To accommodate the eco-friendly endeavor, Pacheco and a dozen other women used recycled fabric to crochet awnings in place of the plastic. Since the Council's decision three years ago, the sunshades are rolled out each summer. This year they comprise roughly 500 square meters of recycled fabric. While they provide refuge from the sun, the sunshades also add a pop of color to the Spanish streets. 📸: @myeyesshowmepictures #architectanddesign

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Mourning the thousands who lost their lives, honoring all the heroes and thinking of all those family and friends who lost their loved ones. For 12 years, the World Trade Center and towers were part of my everyday life: I walked through the trade center twice every day in my subway commute to work at American Express at 3 World Financial Center. I viewed the towers directly across from my window on the 49th and 51st floor every day those 12 years, so close I could see people there in their own offices. I was working during the 1993 bombing, remembering vividly the sound of the explosion and being evacuated. I will never forget 9/11/01, watching in horror and dismay from my apartment the towers on fire and then fall live before my eyes, and praying for all the people and colleagues who were trapped and lost their lives. It is still hard to come downtown to my old haunting ground and not see the towers there, I feel lost without them - it will always feel surreal to me. Henri caused a lot of flight disruptions and trave

Henri caused a lot of flight disruptions and travel chaos this weekend but sometimes there is a silver lining. Clients stranded in Savannah were overjoyed to find themselves unexpectedly transported to one of our absolute favorite places (we have been twice ourselves): the 20,000 acre luxe resort Montage Palmetto Bluff. And they haven’t stopped gushing since they arrived - from the upgrade to the gorgeous cottages with fireplace and screened in porch overlooking the lagoon (with homemade scones and bourbon jam awaiting them) to the relaxing spa treatments at the new spa and of course the amazing Southern hospitality. Just love the Montage teams everywhere ❤️
