November may be my new favorite time to be in Rome November may be my new favorite time to be in Rome: the hordes of tourists are gone, the weather is mild and sunny, you can get into your fave restaurants without stress, the Black Friday sales are here (with the bonus of VAT - hello Max Mara!) and you get to watch the whole city transform for the holidays. Ok yes many of the monuments and piazzas are under construction for the Jubilee and traffic as a result can be a pain, but if you are a Rome on repeat traveler like me and have checked off all the tourist sites, walking everywhere is the best part of discovering the Roman’s Rome. Lovely.

A few random photo highlights from our 72 hours in Rome.

This trip highlights:

Stay: Rocco Forte’s Hotel de la Ville. More on our stay here and my visits to the sister properties Hotel de Russie and Rocco Forte House in a separate post but I love everything about this property - the location, the stylish and spacious accommodations (highly recommend the Family Suite), the incredible hospitality of every member of the staff, the rooftop and its views etc. My second stay here and just keeps getting better each time.

🍝Eats: Taverna Trilussa, Shinto (great Japanese/sushi for needed carb break), Roscioli, Antico Forno Ai Serpenti for pizza
🍸After hours: Jerry Thomas Speakeasy, Kong, Cielo Terrazza
🛍️ Shopping: Monti hood for vintage (Pifebo, Blue Goose and King Size Vintage), and independent boutiques, Via dei Condotti and surrounding streets for the top luxe. brands, Zara for the girls of course.
🚗 Activities: Reuniting with my daughter, walking everywhere, shopping and eating ❤️. But the Vintage Fiat tour I tested out thru the streets of Rome was so fun and unique. Sadly had to miss my food tour due to logistics and weight gain 🫣

Next stop to celebrate a proper Italian Thanksgiving: returning to Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany 🦃

I stumbled upon Season 5 part 2 of Yellowstone thi I stumbled upon Season 5 part 2 of Yellowstone this week and was intrigued- now on Season 1 Episode 2 and HOOKED! Yes, I know I am (very) late to the game but the scenery, the horses and interiors/exteriors of Dunton Ranch has got me yearning to go back to Montana again (but note, the first few seasons were filmed in Utah so close enough for me).

Getting a lot of Ranch of Rock Creek vibes so going back a few years to one of my all time favorite stays at this luxe ranch. You can read about it all in my linkinbio (yes, that is me barrel racing. Newfound respect🤕!)

Sharing a sneak peek inside the newly opened The S Sharing a sneak peek inside the newly opened The Surrey and of course, the chicest onsite restaurant and members club Casa Tua. I had the privilege yesterday of having a private walk through of the luxury hotel which was in renovation for over three and a half years and opened officially on October 14th (last Friday was the Grand Opening). The opening completes what I call the golden triangle of luxury hotels on the upper East side - The Mark, The Carlyle and now The Surrey - things feel whole again!

The Surrey is elegant, chic and buzzy all at the same time. I love the smell and crispness of a new hotel - with the lovely house scent wafting through the lobby and halls - and the Surrey is no exception. The intimate lobby is modern, bright and sophisticated with the gorgeous wood-paneled lounge and already packed Casa Tua restaurant (designed by Florentine designer Michele Bonan) flanking both sides. The 100 rooms and suites (opening in phases - 4 floors open now with the remainder to be completed by December) are beautifully decorated in muted pastel tones and felt light and spacious. I especially loved seeing the welcome amenities and in-room dining are by Casa Tua!

Attention Upper East Siders: the Sisley spa with treatment rooms, jacuzzi, sauna and experience shower is open to the public for appointments as of next week.

Already at 90% occupancy since its opening and fully booked restaurant (try getting a dinner reservation!), The Surrey already is a welcome fixture in my hood!

Ask me about special opening offers with our partner amenities and check our instastory for a video walk through.

There is no better place I can think of to reset f There is no better place I can think of to reset for a few days after 20 days of Grand Jury (special narcotics no less!) than a few days in the mountains. Lot of exciting things are happening in Park City (Olympics 2034!) and Deer Valley with the development of Deer Valley East - just read the 3-page article in Friday’s WSJ!

I loved getting to check out new insider spots with my friend who is a transplant from NYC and getting my golden fix with my furry nieces and nephew. But the biggest highlight was getting to spend time at Saving Gracie, a 17–acre sanctuary for rescue horses and non profit conservation initiative with Auberge Blue Sky that was founded as a passion project of the owner Barbara Phillips.

I love a hotel with a conscience - when I first visited Auberge Blue Sky after it opened, I had the privilege to meet the first rescues (and the original Rescue, Gracie, which the foundation is named after). Getting to return four years later and meet the now 31 horses rescued from slaughter and deplorable conditions was both educational and inspiring. From Shaq, the grand Percheron rescued from a slaughter auction to the most recent ‘Lucky 8’ (now 9, one was pregnant and baby Gigi is 6-months now!), some of many wild Mustangs and other wild horses that are being rounded up horrifically by helicopter chase by BLM from native lands to be sold to slaughter, what places like Saving Gracie are doing is really important, necessary and a model for others to follow.

As a guest at Auberge Blue Sky, you can visit these horses and contribute to their rehabilitation in many ways - there is a special drink too with proceeds to SG. Learn more about the on the saving Gracie website or instagram!

As I am about to take off for a week in Italy, dro As I am about to take off for a week in Italy, dropping off my daughter for her study abroad semester in Rome, I can not help but reminisce about my last hotel stay in Italy and one of my favorite places ever, Passalaqua in Lake Como. Only open since June 2022, this 24-room hotel was honestly true perfection. Enjoy a taste of my too-short 24 hours there with this reel (sound on🎵).

Between apartment move ins, shopping for sheets and blow dryers, I will be checking out some of the best and newest properties in Rome, doing some requisite shopping (one can never have enough Prada or Bottega) and lots of pasta and gelato in the forecast. Sneaking in a visit to Taormina and the famed Four Seasons San Domenico, long on my list and Siracusa, where I have been longing to check out this French-owned boutique hotel in Oritigia.

Keep your eyes on our instastory over the next week as we hit the ground running tomorrow.
